Q. Is Robocoin available?
Not to the public yet, but soon enough! Follow us on Twitter for major announcement in 2023. We are however running a pilot projects (for industry and for individual collectors). Please contact us if you are interested.
Q. What do I need to use Robocoin?
You need a scanning device and purchase a scan subscription. Robocoin scanner takes hires images of your coins and sorts them to show you these that likely have extra value. If you have a Robocoin partner, we will provide you with documentation and components allowing construction of your own scanner. If you are a business with your own coin processing operation, you can integrate Robocoin scanning into your existing workflow.
Q. Is Robocoin accurate?
Robocoin can identify the coin type, year and mint symbols with 95-99% accuracy - the missing percentage comes mainly from very dirty circulation coins. We now work on making the recognition of various coin features such as double die, off-center strikes etc. reaching comparable levels of accuracy.
Q. Is Robocoin fast?
The total AI recognition (API call) takes less than a second, the photos also take about a second. All the rest depends on the scanner mechanics. The current technology demonstration sorters process about 2.000 coins per hour each, which is more than enough for individual collectors. We are working on industry-grade parallel scanners, at least order of magnitude faster.
Q. Can I make my own scanner?
We are considering open-sourcing the design of the scanner, so that everyone is able to print one at home. All of our prototypes were printed this way, so it is possible.
Q. Does Robocoin create online catalogs?
Absolutely. Providing online access to the catalog of all your scanned coins is one of the primary functionalities of the system.
Q. Do the catalogs work on mobile devices?
Yes, we provide native mobile apps for Android and iOS.
Q. Will Robocoin help me sell my coins?
Robocoin provides you with images of the coin and their metadata, and will soon allow to publish them on social media and on eBay. Please contact us if you need more options.
Q. How much does it cost?
Currently, the prices for coin scans and scanners are not set in stone, and we are actively developing pricing plans to offer our clients the best value for their needs. Stay tuned or contact us for more info.
Q. Does Robocoin need internet to work?
Yes, the recognition needs a considerable computing power and cannot be done by the scanner alone. You need a reasonably fast internet to take advantage of the speed and power of Robocoin (any reasonable home internet link will do). We offer in-house appliances for large corporate customers only.
